Job Description and Scope:
The job of Maintenance Technician II requires working knowledge and repair capability for
industrial and commercial machinery. They install and inspect machines and electrical
equipment while performing preventive maintenance to ensure that industrial machines remain
operational. This position oversees and performs maintenance inspections, repairs, and spare
parts inventories. They also oversee Maintenance Technician I and are in charge of deciding
which tasks will be performed by whom.
Responsibilities: (Maintenance Technician I Responsibilities):
● Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe,
well-maintained conditions and identify areas that need adjustment or repair.
● Perform minor troubleshooting regarding electrical repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts,
and fuses.
● Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment, including fork trucks, carton
erectors, tape machines, air compressors, HVAC equipment, electric motors/gearboxes,
and company vehicles.
● Complete maintenance work orders as assigned and in a timely manner.
● Identify and perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures
● Identify and assist with carpentry and repair work.
● Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools
● Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment
● Perform a variety of locksmith duties: install, repair, and replace locks on doors
● Inspect, service, and maintain operational functionality of doors and windows.
● Install or replace plugs, switches, and outlets.
● Assisting in the installation of new manufacturing equipment
● Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks safely and with minimal supervision,
according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards.
● Work irregular hours as needed.
● Maintain records of repairs.
● Keep a clean and neat work area
● Other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
● Perform advanced troubleshooting regarding electrical repairs (3-phase commercial
electric)
● Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
● Trains other employees on routine preventive maintenance
● Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
and trends.
● Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations
● Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts
● Keep all documentation of routine checks and repairs up-to-date and in line with
internal and external procedures.
● Maintains logs of any downtime within the distribution system.
Required Experience:
● Must be able to work in various physical positions and lift heavy items.
● Strong knowledge of skilled trades, such as HVAC, electrical, or carpentry
● Advanced understanding of mechanical systems and parts
● Knowledge of warehouse automation systems
● Valid Ky Driver’s license.
● Good communication abilities.
